Course Overview

Learn to teach English online or abroad by earning an internationally-recognised TEFL/TESOL certificate. There is no prior experience required!

Welcome to the Teaching English as a Foreign Language course. This course is intended for anyone wishing to work as an English as a foreign language teacher for either adults or children in both classroom and one-to-one teaching environments.

English is one of the most widely-spoken languages in the world, and demand for qualified language teachers is high. Salaries in some of the top-paying countries exceed $5000 per month, making teaching English an extremely lucrative career choice, as well as one that offers incredible flexibility and travel opportunities.

You will be introduced to the different roles and responsibilities within a classroom, theories of language learning and acquisition and methods for delivering language training, as well as practical skills such as facilitating learning for groups and individuals and behaviour management. Finally, you will learn about the professional responsibilities of a teacher, from promoting equality and diversity in learning to continuous professional development and the coaching and mentoring role of teachers.

Most lessons include workbook activities designed to get you to think about the topics covered in the lesson and their relationship to teaching practice. You will be prompted to pause the videos while you complete the activities in the course workbook, and you are encouraged to make notes as you go along. The lessons will be followed by a multiple-choice quiz, for which the pass percentage is 75 percent.
